Student-led accelerator helping small businesses grown along Germantown avenue, one of Philadelphias most historic commercial corridors.
We're high school students who believe you shouldn't have to wait until graduation to do real work. Impact Germantown pairs student teams with local businesses that need marketing, design, and strategy help but can't always afford it. We build things they can use, websites, branding, social media, and grant support, and we do it as a repeatable program that can grow to serve more of the corridor over time.
Vienna Canno is the founder of Impact Germantown and a member of the Germantown Friends School class of 2029. She's an experienced young builder: in 8th grade she founded Have It Hot, a company that designed and manufactured electric heating pads for lunch boxes, taking the product from concept to production. She's a Young Entrepreneurs Academy alumna and former school treasurer, has worked in real estate marketing at Watchtower Properties since age 13, and has studied business psychology at Duke and law at the University of Pennsylvania. She also competes on GFS's varsity tennis.
Our first partner
The Challenge - Treasures is a long-standing Germantown event space that recently expanded by opening Cove, an adjacent lunch and dinner restaurant. Like many established local businesses, it had deep community roots but a limited and dated online presence, making it hard for new customers to find and reach them.
What We Delivered - We designed and built Treasures a new website to give them a clear, professional home online, and we're now helping manage and grow their social media presence.
In Progress - We're assisting the owners with an application for a $30,000 City of Philadelphia façade grant, a real and lengthy process we're actively working through with them.
Partner with a local business — We identify a business with real needs and genuine commitment to working together.
Build the team — Students with skills in design, writing, marketing, and strategy form a small consulting group.
Do the work — We meet with owners, deliver real projects, and track what we can.
Document and Grow — We record what worked so the model can extend to more businesses on the Avenue.
